Christmas Party at the House

Well, the James Family Christmas Party was at our house this year. There were over 50 people here. It was fun. Here are a few pictures. We missed the Coleman's, the Millward's, Vicky, and Jake and Josh. Hope you can all make it next year.

Aubree was the lucky winner of the cash prize found in a gift of one of the fun games.

Good thing this happened after. The wall, not Rob reading. I'm trying to decide if I should paint over it or just change my bedspread to match better.

Primary Program

Well it is time for our wards annual primary program. Kait has a poem she gets to say. We thought it was cute so I am blogging it.

I hope you always know dear Mom
That you are really great.
And someday I'll be just like you
A little over weight.

The last line really goes "and someday I'll be just like you, I can hardly wait." But when I said to me daughter that the poem was right on. I am a dear mom, I am really great, and someday she would be just like me, she said that those things were all true but she could definitely wait. And that she wanted to stay young forever. So to keep her honest at the pulpit we changed the last line. We'll see how the program goes.

Things That Have Been Making My Heart Flutter

We did this age advancement program that shows how you are supposed to look in 30 years. This is how Rob should look...he's pretty hot and it does makes my heart flutter a bit. He looks like someone but I can't think of who it is.

Rob and I coached Kait's soccer team last month and at one of the games I saw hundred dollar bills blowing across the field. I started grabbing them and shoving them in my pocket and though I realized pretty quickly that it was my son who had taken them out of my purse and was throwing them, so it was my own money that I was catching, it was still kind of fun and made my heart flutter running around gathering up 100 dollar bills.

I got to have all of the family that lives around here over to our house for Caleb's baby blessing and Kait's birthday party. I have the best kids, husband, and family in the entire world and it makes my heart flutter.

I took a pregnancy test a few weeks ago because I was so tired and queasy and though it said negative a few hours later it read positive and until the next morning when I took another negative test my heart wasn't just fluttering it was jumping up and down and doing back flips.

Just for the record the picture is of Rob with Sean Connery's hair and beard put on him...an aging program probably wouldn't have him growing hair, but he is hot. Don't try mugging me, I was on my way to buy some dressers from off of KSL.com so I had cash in my purse, I don't normally carry around 100 dollar bills. My kids, husband, and family may not be the best in the entire world but you'll have to admit that Caleb's picture is pretty cute. I still haven't started my womanly cycle so I can't be sure that I'm not pregnant but I don't think I am. And once again, Rob is and will always be hot.

The Kids Are Growing Up

Kait lost her first tooth. The tooth fairy forgot to come get her tooth, oops! I told her to smile big.....she did.

Hyrum loves pretending that he is driving. Kait took this lovely picture of him practicing. I think he looks very natural behind the wheel, very very natural.

3 Weeks Later

Well the house is done. We are supposed to do the final walk through on Friday and then close Monday or Tuesday if the loan paperwork is all done by then. Anyone who is dying to help someone move just let us know.

Another Progress Report.

They started framing our house. Once they start framing it usually moves pretty quickly so we are going to post little pictures on the side bar for Mom and those who keep asking about it. Ok, it is mostly just an excuse for us to go check out the house and take pictures everyday, but hopefully some of you will enjoy watching the progress.

I went to my 6 week appointment yesterday only it was only 5 weeks. (The churches temple calendar that I looked at to set up my 6 week appointment put 31 days in the little mini June calendar that is at the bottom of the month of July so I accidentally counted the 31st of June and the 1st of July. Anyway, we didn't mind going a week early.) I was a little confused when the doctor told me everything looked fine, and that my uterus was back to its normal size, because it clearly isn't, but that is what he said.

Tired Random Comments

Kaitlyn went to the mall with her Aunt Michelle and cousin. They went into American Eagle or somewhere and they were playing rap music. She started busting some moves and pretty soon the managers were all watching and then she had a semicircle of curious watchers. Michelle said she was really going to town and that it was the funniest thing she had seen in a while. I guess there was a TV with dancers on it and she was just kind of following what she saw. Scary or cute? I'm not sure.

I have been a bit sleep deprive since Caleb's arrival. Yesterday Kait wanted to read a book to me for the library's summer reading program but I kept falling asleep while she was reading. I must be getting old because I was falling asleep sitting straight up and she would have to wake me up. I would try to focus but would be woken up again before she even finished the page. This happened 3 or 4 times and finally I gave up and lay down for 20 minutes until I got woken up for something or other else. I'm still not sure how Hey AL ends.

Caleb is here!

Caleb James Adams was born June 10, 2009 at 9:46 p.m. He and mom are healthy and happy. He weighed 8 lbs 3 oz. and was 19.5 inches long.
I was going to write some awesome gospel insights I learned while going all natural on this child but have opted to just brag a bit. Actually, I can't even do that because it feels like I received so much help from the other side of the veil. When I had Hyrum they told me I couldn't have an epidural because of the hellp syndrome that I had but this time I knew I could end the pain at any time and it amazes me what the Savior suffered for us with complete power to end the pain at any time. It kind of makes labor seem small in comparison and yet on a personal level my love for the Savior and Caleb seems greater.

A Pregnant Womens consolation!

I found this article online. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/5286670/Morning-sickness-increases-the-chance-that-child-will-have-high-IQ.html In case you don't want to read this, this is the title and gist of it.

Morning sickness 'increases the chance that child will have high IQ'
Women who suffer morning sickness during pregnancy may be more likely to have a child with a high IQ, according to new research.
I don't care if it is true or not I am all for articles that help morning sick pregnant women feel better about their pregnancies. It would be nice to have a formula that equates the IQ increase per vomit so that you could finish puking, flush, and say "well I just increased this child's IQ by 10.3 points.

Happy Mothers Day to Me!!

Hyrum's gift to me----sleeping in until 7:30 instead of 6:30. Absolutely wonderful...Thanks Hy.

Kait's gift to me----running into Dad at 6:20 a.m. and "QUIETLY", that is in caps to show that her whispering wasn't really that quiet, to Dad, who went to bed at 3:00 a.m., that it was time to make mom breakfast. I got to stay snuggled in bed dozing in and out of sleep while listening to them cook in the kitchen. Then Kait brought me the balloon that she had chosen out. She was soooo excited to give it to me because it said, Happy Mothers Day "with love". She just loved that it said "with love" and just knew that anyone who saw it would feel just a little bit of joy and happiness go right to their heart. She wasn't sure exactly how it would make bad guys feel if they saw it but she knew everyone else would just be so joyful.
This has been my first Mother's day with a child old enough to understand and it has been really fun for me. We'll see how her vow of absolute obedience and help goes the rest of the day.

Happy Mothers Day to you Mom. I am daily amazed at how you managed 11 children sooo well. You did a pretty good job with most of us and an exceptional job with me. ;). I love you sooo much and hope that some joy goes right to your heart as you read this blog and see the balloon that your posterity chose out. We'll see you this evening, we love you!!

Spring Fun

A bunch of the women in our ward do a little preschool thing on Mondays and then field trips on Fridays. We went to the barn at Thanksgiving point today. The kids had fun.

I put these bars in Kait's room as a new discipline method I'm thinking of trying. ;)

Wahoo! We are finally buying a home.

Well we put money down on a lot that is in a new development, we've picked out a floor plan and and we'll be signing the contract tomorrow. Here is a picture of the lot and the model of house that we are getting. It is in Spanish Fork just a little northeast of highway 6. They say it takes about 8 to 10 weeks to build once the contract has been signed so by the first part of July we should be settling in and wondering if we picked the right color schemes. ;)

Easter and Random

Kaitlyn and Hyrum had a blast at all of the Easter egg hunts they had. Thanks Grandma Adams for the fun hunt. We are still trying to get rid of the all of the Easter candy they accumulated.

Hyrum is my little fix it man. (I do dress my children but my time frame in the morning is very optional). Anyway, when he found that light bulb by the bed he pulled a chair down the hall and tried to change the bulb in the hall like he had seen me do. I thought it was cute enough for a picture but partially changed my mind when he dropped the bulb and I knew I could have prevented it earlier.

Warning, inappropriate info in this blog.

Sorry about this blog but I was up for 2- 3 hours in the night unable to sleep. Having said that.....When I got pregnant with Kaitlyn my chest doubled in size and turned bright purple because of all of the stretch marks. If I keep gaining weight like I am this pregnancy I fear the same thing will happen to my butt. Out of respect for others, or maybe myself, I will not be posting pictures of either.

Rambling blog about nothing, for Cathy's sake.

I've decided that potty training is scary. Hyrum just decided he was ready to be potty trained a few weeks ago and keeps taking off his diaper and sitting on the potty so I decided to try and see if he could be potty trained before this baby gets here. But I've decided it is really scary to potty train. He stayed dry all day on Monday so Tuesday I put him in big boy underpants. Setting him in the car to go somewhere with out his diaper freaked me out. With Kait I was ignorant about how big of a pain it is to wash those darn car seat covers but my eyes are wide open now so I lined the bottom with open diapers. He did great and stayed dry all day. I was so proud of him. But then yesterday he did lousy. He would tell me that he had to go to the bathroom, we would go in there, and then he wouldn't go until right after I put his diaper or under ware back on. Sigh! We'll see how it goes.
Today the Utah legislation passed a bill saying "Anyone interested in buying a newly built home could receive a $6,000 state grant under a bill the Utah Legislature has approved." I emailed the link from KSL to Rob because we should be buying in the next 3 or 4 months but told him that the grant made me sick to my stomach for some reason. He responded that he didn't think we qualified and when I asked him why not because we fit all of the requirements he said he was pretty sure that it required that you be a socialist or a communist. His comment made me laugh and love my husband.
Kaitlyn's new favorite show is Scooby Doo. She laughs through the entire thing but is then timid about walking down the hall alone and stuff. I told her if she was to scared to use the bathroom or go to her room by herself then she wouldn't be able to watch Scooby Doo again until she was 7. This morning she asked if she could watch it and I said only if she went and cleaned up all of the shoes at the end of the hall. (Smart Mom....the shoes get cleaned and she has to go down the hall by herself.) She stood at the top of the hall for a good 10 seconds and then asked if it would be all right if we changed the rule so that if she was too scared to go and clean up the shoes then she wouldn't be allowed to do any cleaning until she was 7. She ended up cleaning up the shoes and watching the movie.
Ok, enough rambling.

Kait's imagination

We went to the library and got some books. One was on caterpillars. All morning I have enjoyed listening to Kait pretend she has a pet caterpillar which she named "Bitch".

FAQs:

What is the shelf-life on these canned seeds? The declared shelf-life is 5 years. If, however, the seeds are stored in the freezer, that should double the shelf-life!

How many people will one can feed? Each can should feed a family of 5 for one season.

Will non-hybrid seeds germinate as efficiently as hybrid seeds? This company's germination standards are even higher than the Utah State requirements. Most will be in the 90% germination range. The germination percentage of each individual seed will be posted on the package.

These need to be ordered by March 16th so if anybody wants to order them with me let me know. I just want to have a couple of cans put away so that I know that I have a bunch of seeds but I don't have to think about it anymore. I also was just looking at websites that tell a little bit about how to save seeds from what you do grow and use them in later seasons. http://gardening.about.com/od/gardenmaintenance/a/SeedSaving.htm Anyway, this is my contribution to Erin, Tracey's and Mom's blogs about being more self reliant and ways to save money.

I've Been Tagged

Ok, I've been tagged again. This is a picture of Hyrum opening his birthday gifts on his first birthday. Ironically, his second birthday is next week and the last time I was tagged it was the week of Halloween and the picture I was told to find happened to be of Halloween the year before.
Now you are supposed to go to your documents or pictures file, open your 6th folder, and 6th picture and blog about it. Then choose 6 other people to tag. I choose, Gloria J., Tracey J., Andrea T., Doug J., Christy C., and Tera D.
Don't feel that you have to play this little game of tag, though I may give you the cold shoulder for a while if you don't. ;) Oh, and if the picture is inappropriate then you are off the hook, we would rather not see it.

It's A Boy

I just got back from my ultra sound. As the title says, it is a boy and it looked healthy and strong. Rob and I have always thought that we would have a girl, then 2 boys, and then another girl, but after the late miscarriage which was a boy and then the doctor saying that the heartbeat on this one was the speed of a girl I started thinking girl again. So it was fun learning that it was a boy. The pictures didn't turn out to well but who but the parents even really looks at the ultra sound pictures too closely. Anyway, we are happy that all seems well.

Depends

I have had croup for the last few days. I know that only children are supposed to get croup but because of my asthma it seemed to effect me like it does the children. With all of the coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing and my being pregnant with no bladder control I have been constantly changing clothes. That is probably more than you wanted to hear....I know it is more than Rob likes to hear. Anyway, now the kids both woke up with it so maybe I'll be stuck in the house enough to blog some....though clearly from this blog you can see that I have nothing of interest to write.
Tomorrow is my ultrasound and I have no idea how I am going to deal with my kids. I don't want to drag them out to the doctors because I don't want to have to feel responsible for buying depends for the other pregnant women who pick up what we have but I can't really leave them with anyone either. I should probably reschedule but it is my ultrasound and I don't want to!!!!!!
P.S. Rob is instant messaging me from work saying he is feeling queasy and thinks he has the stomach flu. Oh joy!! How I love January and February.

Oh What Do You Do During Mom's Shower Time

I discovered my son putting on mascara....should I be concerned about anything?

Times like these are why we don't strangle our kids when we find them in smearing things all over recently cleaned bathrooms. Oh, who am I kidding, I have wanted to put mascara on those long gorgeous eyelashes myself. See 'em and weep women.

Monday, January 12, 2009

I haven't written in my journal for quite a while.

These are as close to journal entries as my children are going to get, at least for a while.
The 2 kids from upstairs were down here playing while their mom did her visiting teaching and then she took her boy and Kaitlyn upstairs for preschool which was at her house today. Anyway, Kait called me right after getting upstairs to tell me that she had left her glass of milk on her computer desk and could I please go drink it or put it in the fridge. It made me laugh.

This is totally staged. She just wanted to play on the treadmill when I got through.

Well, we finally used the sleds we bought as a gift for someone last Christmas and never gave them to them. It was fun.
